Box Zones helps support organizations data residency needs by allowing them to store content in the geographic region of their choice. As our customer base and usage continues to grow, we are further investing in our infrastructure to continue helping customers accelerate their digital transformation. For our Germany/Ireland Zone, we will soon be changing the location of our secondary backup storage that provides automatic disaster recovery in the event of a service outage from Ireland to the Netherlands. Primary storage will remain in Germany. Existing content in Ireland will remain where it is stored, and new uploads will now go to the new location in the Netherlands.
The Admin Console will display a change of the name of the Box Zone from “Germany/Ireland” to “Germany/Netherlands”. As we prepare for this change, customers may see the new secondary location name shown in the Admin Console in advance, but content will continue to be stored in Germany/Ireland until late October.
There will be no downtime due to this change, and there will not be any interruption to access to any content or data. Our compliance certifications, validations, and reports will also not be impacted.
