To ensure all our users benefit from the most secure, stable, and feature-rich experience, we are implementing a new update policy for the Box mobile app that will apply to iOS and Android apps, and the Box for EMM app. This process helps us protect you from security vulnerabilities, resolve critical bugs, and ensure your app remains compatible with our backend services as they evolve.
Going forward, when an app version reaches 18 months of age, we will begin notifying users that an update is required. After a minimum of 24 months, we will no longer support that version of the app, and users will need to be updated to continue use.
What This Means for You
- For most users, simply keep your app updated as you normally would through the App Store or Google Play Store to ensure uninterrupted access.
- For enterprise-managed users (EMM), if an update is required and not yet available from your organization, the app will display a “Contact admin for update” message.
- If your device’s OS is no longer supported by the latest app version, you will see a notification that the “OS is no longer supported” message instead.
We encourage you to keep your Box mobile app updated to have uninterrupted access to the latest features and protections.
