Summary: Effective on or around November 16, 2026, API calls made on behalf of Glean Search will be classified as a chargeable activity. In conjunction with this update, Glean is introducing new connectors to help minimize impact and support a seamless transition.
What is this?
As part of periodic reviews of third-party application classifications, Box is updating the chargeability status for Glean Search (application IDs: 1735828, 1747488, 1914640, 1936424, 1946132) so that API calls made on its behalf are treated as chargeable.
What it means to me as the end user/Admin?
Box reporting will reflect the new chargeability status starting on or around November 16, 2026. Chargeable applications count towards your organization's API entitlements and may incur overage fees if limits are exceeded. Please review your current API usage and consumption trends carefully.
Preparation required?
None required immediately. Organizations with questions regarding API usage or the upcoming connector options can reach out to their Box Account team or Box Reseller.
Are there alternatives that can help with this transition?
To support this transition, Glean will enable a Box MCP connector and a Box Federated Search connector in the Box Integration Center (both marked as "non-chargeable"), as well as enhance the existing Box indexing connector to reduce overall API call volume prior to November 16, 2026.
