The Box Android applications will no longer support the use of Android versions 8, 9, or 10. This end of life (EOL) is due to our company policy around operating system support.
Android users will be able to continue to use any previously downloaded versions of the apps on devices running Android 8, 9, or 10. However, the Box team will not be releasing bug or crash fixes for these unsupported versions and these users will not be able to install new versions of the apps until they update their device. To continue receiving the latest versions and stay up to date, please update your device to the latest version of Android.
Note: As of Android 11 and above, Google has deprecated support for APK distribution. As a result, customers using APK as a distribution method for Box will need to utilize Android Enterprise in order to continue receiving the latest versions of the app. Please see Google's deprecation notice for APK distribution which mandates the use of Android Enterprise here. For detailed instructions on how to enable Android Enterprise for your organization, please refer to your specific EMM vendor’s documentation.
