Few issues downloading fresh install of box drive
Hello there and hope everyone is doing well.
I wasn't entirely sure how else to reach out for support to box as they don't make it too easy to find any contact information. But I'm part of the IT department for a client and I setup a new computer for them. After installing box drive and having them log in successfully everything seemed to be working fine but there are very strange quirks about using it. I must say though I am note quite as used to the software as I'd like to be so I do not know all the ins and outs.
So some of the quirks I was experiencing:
-When clicking the actual "box drive" application folder (not the box drive File Explorer shortcut) nothing would happen at all it was if the PC simply could not open the application. Box drive would only open when using the box drive/file explorer shortcut icon
-A few days later my user said that they couldn't get into their box drive at all from file explorer per usual, it had disappeared completely. Sure enough not even clicking on the box drive file explorer shortcut did anything nor was box drive seen in file explorer alone. I searched for the box drive application and after opening it it performed an update which corrected issue.
So it seems to be that perhaps there was an application corruption? Though this is unlikely as I had already performed all the steps found on the box support pages as far as completely uninstalling the app found in this link here:

So with this context in mind, the questions I have are these:
1. Is there a management setting portal or anything similar to that where I can change how box drive behaves? In that I would like it to update automatically not interrupting user interaction with them having to find a way to manually update the app.
2. From my understanding the box drive app icon and box drive file explorer icon are functionally the same, but is there any reason why clicking on the actual box drive app would not open box drive?
Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide, I honestly just need to be pointed in the right direction as to where I can search or if anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated!

For your other question, yes Box Drive app icon and the icon in file explorer should open the Box Drive folder for the users, and based on the user experience you described, this is not the expected behavior. Could you have the affected user submit a ticket to Product Support team to help look into this issue? They need to login to their Box account, and submit a support ticket so the team can further investigate this behavior.
