We are excited to announce that Box Canvas will begin rolling out on April 25, 2023. Canvas is an intuitive, visual collaboration and whiteboarding experience directly within The Box Content Cloud. With infinite space, unlimited canvases, and an intuitive toolset, Box Canvas powers free-form collaboration and gives you the flexibility to create using visual formats or host inclusive, interactive workshops and meetings securely from anywhere, with anyone.
Use Box Canvas to:
- Transform teamwork by enabling secure, inclusive collaboration so hybrid teams can connect, engage, and have fun while working better together anytime, anywhere
- Empower teams (and individuals) to unleash their creativity with intuitive, free-form collaboration so they can generate creative solutions, solve problems faster, and turn ideas into action
- Reduce complexity and risk with a visual collaboration and whiteboarding tool native to the Content Cloud that connects to everything else in your stack securely and compliantly
Box Canvas will be turned on automatically for customers on a rolling basis beginning with free and paid personal plans. Business and enterprise customers who want to get started in advance of their roll out date can manually turn Canvas on in the same Admin Console Canvas module that was used to enable the Public Beta.
To enable Box Canvas ahead of your scheduled roll out your Box admin will need to enable it from the Admin Console.
- To enable, navigate to Admin Console > Enterprise Settings > Content & Sharing
- Scroll down the Content & Sharing page until you find the Canvas module

Click on "Configure" and you will be presented with four options:
- disabling Box Canvas for all managed users
- enabling Box Canvas on for managed users
- enabling Box Canvas for select users and groups (up to 100 names/emails and/or up to 100 groups)
- enabling Box Canvas on for everyone except select users and groups (up to 100 names/emails and/or up to 100 groups)
- Be sure to click “Save” so that your selections are saved.
If you have not manually configured the Canvas module, Canvas will automatically be enabled for your enterprise in the coming months.
As we roll out Canvas, we will respect existing setting configurations that have been set and saved in the Admin Console.
