Grant permission: View legal holds only
This allows the viewing of all legal holds created by other admins. It doesn't allow access to any other parts of the Admin Console.
To enable this setting, navigate to:
- Admin Console.
- Users & Groups.
- Search for the user in the Managed Users tab.
- Select the user and click Edit next to Role and Access Permissions.
- Enable Policies > View policies > Legal holds only.
- Turn off all other permissions.
- Click Save.
Important
Don’t enable any Content permissions when enabling view only permissions. The Content permission will override the legal hold permission. For example, if both View Legal holds only and Edit Archives and users’ content are enabled, admins will be able to edit legal holds.

Note: If you enable Create, edit and delete policies for your company, this will override view only permissions.
Grant permission: Create, edit, and delete legal holds only
This allows the admin:
- To view all legal holds created by other admins
- To create, edit, and delete their own legal holds
- To report on legal holds
It doesn't allow access to any other parts of the Admin Console.

- Search for the user in the Managed Users tab.
- Select the user and click Edit next to Role and Access Permissions.
- Enable Policies > Create, edit and delete policies for your company > Legal holds only.
- Turn off all other permissions.
- Click Save.
