Box enables you to allow your account holders to add metadata instances to a folder, and automatically cascade them to the folder's contents. Using cascading metadata, your account holders can quickly add metadata to multiple files and sub-folders at one time.
Enabling cascading metadata also allows your account holders to resolve metadata instance conflicts by either retaining or overwriting current attribute values.
To enable cascading folder-level metadata for your enterprise:
- From your admin console, go to Enterprise Settings > Content and Sharing tab.
- Scroll down to the Cascading Folder Level Metadata section.
- Click Configure and select the option you want, then click Save. See the Cascading Folder Level Metadata section in Enterprise Settings: Content & Sharing Tab for details.
- Click Save.
