Restoring Archived Content
When you restore content from an Archive:

The Box Archive feature enables you to either
- restore Archived content to its original location in Box, or
- choose a new location in Box.
- Box suppresses notifications to the item's original collaborators.
- Box does not put restored content in the Hubs where the restored content was previously linked. The user must add the content to the Hub again.
- Box does not place previously trashed content back into trash.
- Box recreates unexpired collaborations that were originally on the Archived content. Box does not restore expired collaborations.
- Box restores unexpired shared links as downgraded to Collaborator. Box does not restore expired shared links.
- Box suppresses notifications for the recreation of the collaborations.
To restore Archived content:
- In Admin Console, in the left panel click Content.
- In the top of the window, click Content Manager.
- At the top of the window, click Archives.
- Click on an Archive's name.
- In the Archive window, hover on a file or folder then click the restore icon.
- In the confirmation window, click either Restore to move the item to its original location in Box, or Select Location and then choose a location in Box to which to move the item.
Deleting an Empty Archive
The Box Archive feature enables you to delete an empty Archive.
- You cannot delete a populated Archive. To delete content, you must restore the content to an active location to be trashed.
- When Retention policies meet a trigger disposition date, Box deletes files from Archives.
To delete an empty Archive:
- In Admin Console, in the left panel click Content.
- In the top of the window, click Content Manager.
- At the top of the window, click Archives.
- Click on the empty Archive's name.
- At the top of the window, click the trash icon. Box asks whether you want to permanently delete the Archive.
- Click Delete.
