If your business is
- temporarily upgraded to an Enterprise Advanced account during beta testing or trial periods, and then downgraded to a lower account, or
- downgraded from an Enterprise Advanced account to a lower account for any other reason,
files and folders that were placed into Box Archives become orphaned and inaccessible to your business's Box admins.
Preventative Options
To prevent loss of access to Archived content after your business is downgraded from Enterprise Advanced to a lower account, restore all Archived content
- before the beta test period concludes, or
- before downgrading from your Enterprise Advanced account.
Remediation Process
If your business's Enterprise Advanced account is downgraded with content remaining in a Box Archive, contact Box Customer Support. Box will migrate all content from your Box Archive to a destination of your choice, and then remove your business's Box Archive storage.
An admin's subsequent requests via API to move content into Archive, with the token credentials to do so, moves content to the Archive folder but doing so does not trigger the typical archival flows like removing collaborators and marking the Archived content with Archive metadata.
