When you are viewing files and folders in either List View or Grid View, badges can appear to the right of the file or folder name to give you information about various statuses of the file or folder. This topic explains the meaning of the badges you might see.

Classification |
Indicates that a security classification has been applied to the file or to at least one file within the folder. The color of the badge will match the color selected for the Classification policy. See Classification Policies (Automated Classification) for details. When you hover the mouse pointer over a Classification badge, a card will appear with details about any classifications applied, including:

Coauthoring | Indicates that coauthoring is enabled for a Microsoft Office document. See Box for Microsoft Office coauthoring for details. | |
Collaboration | Indicates that the file or folder has invited collaborators. See Collaborate on Files for details. | |
Comments | Indicates that the file has comments. A number next to the badge () indicates how many comments that have been added to the file. See Adding Comments and Tasks for details. | |
Description | Indicates that a description has been added to the file or folder. See Adding Descriptions to Folders and Files for details. | |
File Expiration | Indicates that the file has been set to auto-expire. | |
Lock | Indicates that the file is locked. See Locking & Unlocking Files for details. | |
Quarantine | Indicates that the file is quarantined. This occurs when Box Shield has detected a threat in the file and is cannot be accessed until the threat has been remediated and the file released by your administrator. See Using Threat Detection for details. | |
Shared Link | Indicates that a shared link has been created for the file or folder. See Creating Shared Links for details. | |
Shared Link Expiration | Indicates that the shared link for a file or folder has an expiration date. See Configuring Individual Shared Link Settings for details. | |
Sign | Indicates a Box Sign document, that is, a file that is enabled for electronic signatures. See Introducing Box Sign for details. | |
Sync | Indicates that the file is in the process of being synchronized, typically with a Box Drive or Box Mobile user. | |
