ConnectionResetError: [WinError 10054] An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

I'v made a test app with a redirect uri "http://localhost:8080". And I am using a sample source from box sdk for python (reference here: https://github.com/cburnette/boxr). In my office environment, it's work very well, but it's don't work in my custom's office. Just a "ConnectionResetError: [WinError 10054] An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" was returned when a redirect uri with a access token will be return.

I talked to my custom to configuring a firewall for box applications by reference "https://community.box.com/t5/How-to-Guides-for-Account/Configuring-A-Firewall-For-Box-Applications/ta-p/12". But no change.

So my custom investigate the proxy log, found a url "edit.boxlocalhost.com:17223" was denied. Then they made a exclusion of the proxy for "edit.boxlocalhost.com", so it's changed to work.

So I want to known what's "edit.boxlocalhost.com" ? Is it necessary? When a redirect uri with a access token was denied, what's I have to do?

Thanks for your question. The domain edit.boxlocalhost.com is used for Box Edit:

https://community.box.com/t5/Using-Box-Edit/Opening-and-Editing-Files-with-Box-Edit/ta-p/19160

It is not used for any custom API calls by an application, so it's weird that adding that exception alone would fix an issue. However, if you possibly whitelisted other domains in the same action, that could very well explain the fixed issue.

In general, that type of error is caused by a proxy or firewall when an un-whitelisted domain is requested. What you did here is perfect - investigate as best as possible with any proxy or network logging, and go from there.
