400 Error while trying to add user which are in different Org

Hi,

I am using Java SDK. I am getting 400 Error while trying to add user which are in different Org. Is this what is expected ? I was hoping to get 409 like when there is conflict with managed users but it returns 400. Can some one please shed light on this ? Since 400 is more generic, I am not sure what was the issue.

I also try to check user in other org using

final String loginFilter="***@example.com";
Iterable extUsers = BoxUser.getExternalUsers(api, loginFilter, "login", "email");

But this does not return any record, although I know for certain that the login is there in some other Org. I tried this many times still the same result.

What is the best to check login in other Org, if it exists or not?

Just wanted to add the info that, when user from other Org is added from console( UI) it does give nice response as below. I was expecting the same from java sdk.

"Email Cannot Be Added
The supplied email address belongs to a different organization and cannot be added to your Box account."
