Box syncing with a QNAP local back up HD
回答済みFor several years, we have used a local QNAP-enabled hard drive array to sync with Box. That way, we always have a local copy of all files under our direct control.
We recently upgraded to a new HD array and had to re-sync with Box. Box has now created thousands of duplicated files both on the HD array and on Box. It's a horrible mess. It has to be a Box issue because the HD array is just that, just a hard drive. And we can tell it is Box because of the file name extensions being added to the duplicated files.

Hi there,
Welcome to the Box Community. I am happy to help!
There are generally three situations where these email-appended duplications can occur:
- During an installation of Sync, if you drag content into your Box Sync Folder
- Local creation of a folder that already exists on Box.com
- Simultaneous content creation or edit by two collaborators
You may check this article as well for more information about duplicated files: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044193953-Duplicate-Files-With-Email-Address-Added-After-Sync
Thanks!

I am not sure I understand. When we look at folders, some files were duplicated as many as five or six times, and other files in the same folder were not duplicated at all. There does not appear to be any rhyme or reason to the duplicated files.
I also don't understand the reference to "email-appended duplications." No email is involved.
Here is an example of a file name with an appended time stamp:
