In February 2025, we released the ability for U.S. Federal Government customers to authenticate their signers by requiring them to use their common access cards (CAC) or personal identity verification cards (PIV). This enabled U.S. Federal Government organizations and contractors to force signature request recipients to authenticate themselves using their CAC or PIV smart cards before gaining access to sign Box Sign signature requests. That being said, CAC/PIV smart card authentication is only available for single signers within a signature request.
Soon we will release the ability for U.S. Federal Government organizations and contractors to request signatures from multiple signers within a single signature request and force them to authenticate themselves with their CAC/PIV smart cards. This will enable U.S. Federal Government organizations and contractors with the flexibility to address a broader set of use cases and business process that require multiple signatories.
