We will be releasing a new version of Box Drive (v2.53), on Windows and Mac, that includes feature enhancements and bug fixes.
Spotlight search support for MacOS
Spotlight on Mac can now also be used to search through your content on Box. Users that want to search for their content can now utilize Apple's native searching function to query Box.
Users can scope a search to just Box, input their string, and Box will return matches of content stored on Box, from documents and folders to Box Notes.
Open with AI agents now available in Box Drive
Box Drive now lets you put your files to work with your favorite AI agent — right-click any file, folder, or multi-file selection to launch a session directly.
- Open with Claude Cowork — launches a Claude Desktop session on the selected file, folder, or multi-file selection.
- Open with Claude Code — launches Claude Code on the selected folder (folders only).
- Open with Cursor — opens the selected file or folder in Cursor.
- Open with ChatGPT — opens the selected file or folder in ChatGPT, in Codex or ChatGPT Work depending on which you used most recently.
Each option shows up if the corresponding app is installed on your computer.
Improved upload experience for MacOS
Box Drive's transfer menu on macOS sees a suite of improvements. When uploading files onto Box, users will now be able to see how many files are completed, how many files are still pending, and how many files is the upload operation composed of in total.
Differential chunks upload support
Starting with this release, an optimization to uploading new versions of large files will begin rolling out to users. Previously, modified files would be uploaded in their entirety. Now, when an applicable file is edited, only changed chunks of a file are uploaded, which can reduce data transferred and improve upload performance.
