We will be releasing a new version of Box Drive (v2.56), on Windows and Mac, that includes feature enhancements and bug fixes.
New Box Drive architecture coming to more enterprise customers
With v2.56, we're continuing to gradually enable the new Box Drive architecture on Windows (Cloud Files) for more enterprise customers outside of Japan. It will happen in stages over the next few releases. Eligible users will get it automatically with a regular update, and no action is needed.
A note for users in Japan: the new architecture will follow in a later release. Users who update while connected from outside Japan (for example, while traveling or on a VPN) will receive it earlier, and will keep it after returning to Japan.
Open with ChatGPT and Codex now available in Box Drive
Box Drive now supports more AI agents. Right-click any file, folder, or multi-file selection to launch a session directly in ChatGPT or Codex.
- Open with ChatGPT — launches a ChatGPT desktop session on the selected file, folder, or multi-file selection.
- Open with Codex — launches a ChatGPT desktop session with Codex mode on the selected folder.
Both options show up if the ChatGPT desktop app is installed on your computer.
Stop Ongoing Uploads
In the Transfers menu of Box Drive, users will now be able to stop the uploads of specific items that are currently being uploaded to Box Drive. After the item's upload is stopped, users can then decide how they want to deal with the item, whether they want to restart the upload, move it out of Drive, or delete the item entirely.
Logged in User Information on MacOS
The settings menu on macOS will introduce a section at the top that indicates which account the user is currently logged into on Box Drive.
