We've redesigned the Table of Contents in Box Notes to make navigating long notes easier. Before, you had to add it yourself with the "/" command for it to show up for everyone, and it disappeared whenever you opened Box AI, Comments, or Version History. Now it's always there to help you find your way around a note.
What is changing
On by default — The Table of Contents now appears automatically for all note viewers. No one needs to add it with the "/" command first.
Always visible — It stays on screen even when you open Box AI, Comments, or Version History, so you can keep jumping between headings while you work.
A clearer collapsed view — When collapsed, it shows your note's structure as a set of bars by heading level, with your current section highlighted — so you always know where you are.
Hover and pin — Hover to preview the full outline, or pin it to keep it open. We'll remember your choice across notes.
Follows your scroll — The highlighted section now keeps up as you scroll through the note.
