We are excited to announce enhancements to metadata views for the Content Explorer UI Element, allowing you to display files and their associated metadata attributes in a dynamic, column-based layout. This makes building applications where users can quickly find, organize, and manage critical information simpler and more intuitive.
These enhancements empower developers to create highly tailored experiences that surface the most relevant information for their users. By integrating this feature, your application can provide a rich, spreadsheet-like interface for content stored in Box and extends your application's capabilities by allowing users to perform sophisticated filtering and bulk actions directly within your UI.
In this release, metadata views in Content Explorer will allow your users to:
- View rich context: Display files with their associated metadata attributes as columns for a clear, at-a-glance overview of your content library
- Customize the view: Easily define which metadata template columns are visible, allowing users to focus on the information that matters most to their workflow
- Filter and sort: Instantly filter and sort content based on any metadata attribute, making it easy to pinpoint specific files in large datasets
- Permission-based editing: Users who have editing rights can directly update metadata values, ensuring content stays accurate and up to date
- Perform bulk actions: Select multiple files directly from the metadata view to perform custom or standard actions, such as editing metadata, moving files, or initiating a workflow
