Box is expanding OCR to apply to scanned PDFs for Enterprise Advanced and Shield Pro customers, helping them apply Box solutions like Shield Pro and Box Apps to even more of their content stored in Box.
In a typical month, more than 660 million PDFs are uploaded to Box, with roughly 26% of recently processed content identified as scans without text representations. That means a significant volume of customer content is not able to fully leverage capabilities like Box Shield Pro and Search. With this new enhancement in place, Box customers will have more of their content searchable, discoverable, and usable across advanced product experiences.

- Box Shield Pro
- Box Apps
- Box Search
Currently this feature is available for English and Japanese, with more languages coming in future quarters, and it is now available for all Enterprise Advanced and Shield Pro customers.
