Issue
When attempting to access Box from the iOS Files app, the following error message may appear and prevent further action: “Use of the Files functionality with your account is restricted while your administrator requires a Box in-app passcode.”
Root Cause
This issue occurs when the "Passcode Settings for Box Mobile Application" section in the Box Admin Console is configured to require a passcode lock. If passcode authentication has not yet been completed in the Box for iOS app, or if this security setting is enforced, access via the iOS Files app is restricted by default.

Resolution
An administrator can enable access from the Files app by updating the setting as described below.
Step 1: Access the Admin Console
- Log in to Box with an admin account and open the Admin Console.
- From the menu, select Enterprise Settings.
Step 2: Update the Mobile Settings
- Click the Mobile tab.
- Locate the "Passcode Settings for Box Mobile Application" section.
Step 3: Apply the Setting
- Change "Require passcode lock" to "Do not enforce."
- Click Save to apply the change.
