Two new and highly requested features for Box Hubs are coming soon. These powerful new capabilities give Hub creators flexibility to design polished, visually engaging, and highly structured content portals that look and feel like modern websites or intranets. Here is a closer look at what is now available to all Box Hubs users:
Add visuals with the new image block
Hub creators can now place images directly inline within any Hub page, making it easier than ever to build visually compelling layouts without relying on external workarounds or linked previews.
- Seamless image uploads: Drag and drop an Image Block onto a Hub page, and add an image by uploading directly from your computer, selecting an existing file from Box, or simply dragging and dropping the image file into an Image Block.
- Built-in editing tools: crop and resize your images using preset aspect ratios, including Portrait, Square, Wide, and Extra Wide
- Responsive layouts: images automatically adjust to fit different screen sizes and layout configurations
- Full-screen view option: Viewers can click on any inline image to open it in a larger, full-screen view for closer inspection.
To get started, simply enter Edit Mode on your Hub, add a new block, and select Image as the block type.
Streamline navigation with top view display
We are introducing a brand-new way to organize and navigate pages within your Hubs. In addition to the default left sidebar, you can now display your Hub pages as horizontal tabs at the top of the screen. This option is great for creating a clean, intranet-style navigation experience.
- Switch between layouts: for any Hub with two or more pages, creators can toggle between the default sidebar view and the new top view at any time. Viewers will always see whichever display mode you have actively set.
- Hover dropdowns for sub-pages: nested sub-pages automatically appear in a clean hover dropdown menu beneath their parent tab
- Smart overflow handling: If you have more pages than can fit horizontally, a “More” button automatically appears to house the remaining tabs
- Organize with tabs: reorder, nest, unnest, or duplicate pages directly from the tab bar using drag-and-drop or the tab’s actions (three-dot) menu.
To switch your navigation style, use the actions menu in the Hub header or the actions menu next to the page name in the left sidebar.
