File Explorer on Box web puts a live folder tree next to your All Files list. Open it from the icon by the folder name, browse the hierarchy without backing out of folders, and drag items from the list onto a folder to move them.
Summary
When you are in All Files, you can now open File Explorer — a panel to the left of the list that shows your folder tree. Use it to jump around your content, expand folders to see what is inside, and reorganize by dragging files or folders from the list onto a destination in the tree.
No more climbing back up the tree just to find another folder. Stay in context, work side by side, and put content where it belongs.
What’s new
- A folder tree next to your list. File Explorer stays open beside All Files so you can see the hierarchy and the current folder at the same time.
- Open it from the top of the list. Click an Expand File Explorer at the top of the list to open the Files panel on the left.
- Browse without leaving the list. Expand and collapse folders in the tree. Click a folder to open it in the list. Click a file to open it.
- Drag from the list to move. Select items in the list, drag them onto a folder in File Explorer, and drop to move them there.
- It remembers if you left it open. Close File Explorer with the X (Close file explorer). The next time you return to All Files, it opens or stays closed the way you left it.
Availability
File Explorer is rolling out on Box web for All Files as part of the modernized web experience. It is included with Box web; there is nothing extra to enable in Admin Console for the capability itself.
It is not available on Recents or other pages that do not show the All Files list.
