We are thrilled to announce that Box AI Studio API is now generally available (GA) on February 19, 2025, as part of the Box Enterprise Advanced plan. Box AI Studio API enables developers to create and deploy powerful Box AI agents specifically tailored to their unique needs — for instance, asking Box AI to act as a consulting expert that helps teams understand complex IT requirements to help address client concerns. We are excited to announce the following functionally for GA: Effortless agent creation: Build agents with AI Studio API. Tailored AI experience: Configure and customize agent prompts with specific instructions — like how to respond to a particular question in a way that reflects the business’s context and the brand tone. Choice of secure AI models: Choose from the latestmodels offered by our trusted AI model providers for your agent. Box AI Studio API makes it easy for organizations to tap into the next wave of powerful AI technology, and build and manage custom AI agents that accelerate work, streamlining critical business processes and supercharge what you can do with your content. 

Announcing new Box AI extract agents released Feb 19, 2025 in Enterprise Plus tiers and above. Box AI extract agents manifest in three key areas: UI Preview and Box Apps (available in Enterprise Advanced tier), and the extract API (available in Enterprise Plus tiers and above). Each of these components plays a crucial role in enhancing user experience and operational efficiency. 1. Extract agents in UI Preview With Box Preview, you can view files in any Box application without downloading them to your device. The integration of Box AI extract agents via an autofill capability in the Preview sidebar allows for one-click extraction of the content’s metadata, minimizing manual steps and streamlining the workflow even further.  2. Extract agents in Box Apps Box Apps, together with Box AI extract agents with the autofill capability, significantly reduces the time and effort spent on adding, analyzing, and modifying metadata. By leveraging the power of AI to minimize manual and error prone processes, these tools replace traditional approaches to metadata extraction with AI-powered solutions that ensure high-quality and accuracy. 3. Extract agents via API For additional flexibility and customization, the Box AI extract API extends intelligent metadata extraction capabilities across your technology stack while ensuring consistent and accurate results. In addition, the extract API allows you to choose your own model from a selection of best-in-class AI models. This capability is particularly beneficial for sophisticated use cases where customers desire a "Choose Your Own Model" (CYOM) approach to leverage the latest models from supported providers including OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. Box AI extract agents enable organizations to integrate metadata extraction into custom and third-party applications and also facilitate better management of documents and adherence to regulatory requirements. By automatically extracting key details from content stored on Box, businesses can streamline compliance efforts and improve overall document management. Property management firms can pull out key information such as expiration date, contract amount, etc. from customer agreements and drive key renewal decisions and contract workflows. Event management firms can extract details from the myriad of files they receive from vendors - often in different formats and different languages, and integrate this data with in-house systems to streamline customer management. Integrated secure testing environment: Dive into the AI Studio Playground, and try out your agent! Use any Box content to test out your configured agent before deploying across your organization. Modify prompts and play around with different models until you land on a mix-and-match that suits your business’ needs. AI agent user management: Admins ensure only the subset of users who need to use agents get access to those agents. Seamless Agent switcher: Users can choose best agent for their task from a list of available agents. Box AI Studio makes it easy for organizations to tap into the next wave of powerful AI technology, and build and manage custom AI agents, that accelerate work, streamlining critical business processes and supercharge what you can do with your content.

Box AI helps you apply AI to your content strategy and unlock the full potential of your unstructured data. We are excited to announce the rollout of the following enhancements designed to continue improving your Box AI user experience: Formatting in Box AI queries: When querying with Box AI for Documents and Hubs, users can now ask it to deliver responses in a specific format such as a table, block quote, or list. This can help deliver a more organized and structured response from Box AI that is more readable and easier to understand. Follow-up questions: When querying with Box AI for Documents and Hubs, users can now “continue the conversation” and ask follow-up questions. This allows users to drill down and uncover insights with Box AI at a level of detail a single prompt might not have provided before. Reset chat: When querying with Box AI for Documents and Hubs, users can now reset their chat with Box AI so that new queries are not impacted by previous responses, enabling users to ask multiple, unrelated questions all within one particular document.

We are excited to announce that the Box AI API and Box AI for UI Elements is now available in public beta to all Enterprise Plus customers. The Box AI API will allow customers to extend Box AI capabilities to power their 3rd party and custom apps. The Box AI API will support Q&A within single and multiple documents (limited to text representation up to 1MB or 25 files), summarization, and text generation. In addition to the Box AI API public beta release, customers will be able to: Ask Box AI questions of their documents within the Content Preview UI Element Review Box AI API documentation, SDKs, sample apps, and other developer resources Explore the Box AI API through interactive experiences and demos within the Box AI Dev Zone  

We are thrilled to announce we have released Box AI for Notes and Box AI for Documents in GA to all Box Enterprise Plus customers in the Box Web-App and via the Box embedded interface in Salesforce, NetSuite and Microsoft Teams. With the Box AI GA release, users can: Easily uncover and share insights Find timely answers to critical questions Effortlessly create content using your organization’s data in Box Apply AI to your content strategy and unlock the full potential of your unstructured data Query Box AI while previewing a note, spreadsheet, or presentation, directly from where your teams work in Salesforce or Microsoft Teams by integrating with Box. And for Box AI for Documents users we released the following additional features: A first-time user experience: View a Box AI welcome modal and a tooltip the first time you preview a compatible file type. Suggested Questions: Choose from a short list of pre-populated questions to ask Box AI. Copy Button: Copy an answer into your clipboard with a single click. Citations: See what parts of the source document were referenced when generating the answer.
