The Box for Google Workspace add-on enables you to move seamlessly between Google and Box. You can copy files from GDrive directly into the Box folder of your choice, and save Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides files directly from the Google application into Box.
To copy files from GDrive to a Box folder
- From your GDrive, open the Box pane. To do this, in the third-party application bar, click Box. A separate pane opens on the right.
- Click to select the GDrive file you want.
- In the Box pane, click Authorize.
- If Box prompts you to grant access to this file, click Allow.
- Click Save to Box. The Box pane displays the folder structure from your All Files, Recents, and Favorites.
- Navigate to the Box folder you want and then, at the top, click Save to “<<Folder Name>>”. The Box pane displays basic file metadata, including the path, the date created, and so on.
The file is now saved to Box. You can open it directly from within Box and continue working on it in its native Google application. To do this, click the open editor icon ()
Notes
- You can only save to Box on a per-file basis – that is, you cannot authorize and save multiple G Drive files at a time.
- Existing collaborators on a file in GDrive also have the same collaboration access when the file is in Box. In other words, Box grants collaborator access to whoever is collaborated into your Google Workplace file.
- The maximum size that can be saved for any file type is 50MB.
