We are introducing expanded in-line metadata editing in Box Apps, making it faster for users to update metadata directly where they work. With this enhancement, users can edit metadata values in List and Grid views, reducing clicks and making metadata-driven workflows more efficient. Instead of opening a separate editing experience, teams can update fields directly in context while reviewing files in Box Apps.
What’s new
Today, Box Apps already supports in-line editing for dropdown single-select and multi-select metadata fields. With this launch, we are expanding in-line editing support to additional metadata field types:
- Text
- Number
- Date
In-line editing controls will only appear for users who have permission to edit metadata on a given file. This helps ensure the experience stays secure and aligned with existing access controls.
By expanding beyond select fields, Box helps users to update metadata faster, reduce friction in content workflows, and improve metadata accuracy and consistency.
