Today, the feedback and review process is overly complex and inefficient.
- Feedback is dispersed across emails and other chat tools
- Comments are not in-line, so it's unclear what content a comment is referring to
- Reviewers need to open the app the file was created in to leave comments
With annotations on iOS, users can now review and leave comments directly within file preview.
Highlight Region
If users need to indicate a certain part of a document for editing, they can make use of the highlight region annotation. This allows users to draw a Box around a section of the document, and add a comment. Optionally, they can also @mention another collaborator on the file to draw their attention to the annotation.
To do this:
- Open the file in Preview on an iPhone or iPad.
- Tap on the annotations icon at the bottom of the preview screen to open the annotations toolbar. You will see a set of tools appear.
- Next, select the highlight region tool.
- Tap and drag anywhere on the file itself to draw a box.
- After lifting your finger, the comment field will appear by default. Add a comment and tap “Save”.
Highlight Text
Users will also now be able to highlight and leave text comments on any part of a document or an image and @ mentioned collaborators will receive an email notification and a push notification on their mobile device.
To do this:
- Open the file in Preview on an iPhone or iPad.
- Tap on the annotations icon at the bottom of the preview screen to open the annotations toolbar. You will see a set of tools appear.
- Next, select the highlight text tool.
- Tap and drag on a section of text within the file itself to highlight it.
- After lifting your finger, the comment field will appear by default. Add a comment and tap “Save”.
