Root Cause
This issue occurs because shared link security settings are restricted by the Box admin or the content owner. Downloads via shared links may be blocked by an organizational policy or the owner’s security settings.
Resolution
To create a shared link, remove or relax the restriction where it is enforced. Follow the steps below to review and adjust the settings.
Step 1: Check admin-level restrictions
If downloads via shared links are restricted by an organization-wide policy, you must update the setting in the Admin Console.
- Log in to Box using an admin account.
- Open the Admin Console.
- In the left navigation, select Enterprise Settings.
- Click the Content & Sharing tab.
- Locate the Shared Link Permissions section.
- Enable downloads, and click Save.
