Today we are announcing end of life (EOL) for unencrypted FTP traffic through Box’s FTP service effective October 24th, 2024.
When unencrypted FTP is deprecated, admins will no longer see the option to allow regular (unencrypted) FTP in the admin console. FTP clients attempting a connection without SSL will not be able to successfully connect.
Our encrypted FTPS service will continue to be available to end users, but we also suggest that you take this opportunity to audit and consider whether interacting with Box through FTP(S) is optimal for your current use case. We generally recommend that customers leverage one of alternatives available within Box over FTP(S) whenever possible. In this case suitable replacements include Box Drive, Box APIs or CLI or E-mail upload.
