Box Drive provides user notifications if there are any issues saving your changes to Box. The Box Drive application interface lists the file and provides a brief description of the issue.
To find a list of any problem file notifications:
- Click the Box icon in your menu bar or system tray to open the Box Drive Search Bar.
- Click the Gear icon (lower right corner for Mac, top left corner for Windows) for more options, then click Error updating an item...
- All problem file notifications will be listed here. They should disappear automatically once you have resolved the issue. If they do not, and you believe you have already resolved the issue, you can click Retry All to manually retry your actions.
You will see the following errors due to lack of storage space on either your local hard drive or your Box account:
Download Failed: Insufficient Free Disk Space
Download Failed: Insufficient Free Disk Space
Cause:
- You have attempted to download a file that exceeds your Hard Drive capacity
Resolution:
- Mark offline folders as online only
- Log out of Box Drive to completely clear all cached files and logs, including your offline files and your preferences of which folders were available for offline use.
Action Failed: Quota Exceeded
Cause:
- Box Drive's functionality is dependent on the quota eligibility of the folder owner. The maximum file size limit for this account is based on the folder owner’s account type. See https://www.box.com/pricing/ for eligibility information.
Resolution:
- Alert the folder owner.
- If you are the folder owner, work with your Admin on box.com for more storage space.
There is not enough space on Box. You need an additional xxx GB to copy these files
Cause:
- When uploading files to Box Drive, Box copies the file into the Drive cache folder, which creates a local copy of the file. The error indicates that there is not enough space in your local machine.
Resolution:
- When uploading larger files to Drive, be sure there is enough local storage to accommodate for the local copy of the file.
