We released enhancements to the list view and grid view on the Box web app that optimize navigation and make it easier to get to your content. Users can now take advantage of check boxes to select and perform actions on individual or multiple files. Finally, responsive design enhancements will allow for better display across different screen sizes. One example of this is instead of users having to manually adjust the grid cell size using the slider, the app dynamically adjust the cell size based on the screen size.
With this release, users will navigate to and select items as follows:
- If using a mouse,
- Click on the content name or whitespace in the row/grid cell to navigate to the item
- Click on the check box to select (Note: The check box is displayed when you hover on the item.)
- If using a keyboard,
- Press Enter on the row/grid cell to navigate to the item
- Either press the Shift and X keys together or focus on the check box and press the space bar to select (Note: The check box is displayed when the user hovers on the item by tabbing to it or focusing on it using the arrow keys.)
- If using a combination of a mouse and a keyboard,
- Hold down on the ⌘ (on a Mac)/Ctrl (on a PC) key and click on the whitespace in the row/grid cell to select (Note: ⌘/Ctrl+click also functions as multi-select.)
- If using a touchscreen,
- Enter the Select mode by tapping on the Select button, and tap anywhere on the item to select
Other useful shortcuts are:
- Use the Shift and arrow keys together to select multiple adjoined items
- Press the Esc key to deselect all
