As part of Box’s ongoing efforts to provide our admins the controls needed to protect their organization’s content, we released a new tool enabling admins to restrict users from changing their own usernames to prevent identity impersonation. This represents just the latest granular admin control we have introduced to help ensure frictionless security and compliance for our customers.
Identity is a critical component of any content security strategy, and in a business world built on collaboration and sharing it is essential that users be sure who they are sharing content with. This new security control allows admins to toggle off username changes for users from the Admin Console. Preventing users from changing their names will keep them from effectively disguising their accounts as someone else, leveraging those impersonated identities to deceive other users and even obtain sensitive content.
