With Box Drive (v2.27.240), using FPE mode, creating a new file (saving it directly to Box Drive from the application) and following closely by an edit of that file in some cases may result in syncing issues of the file where newer versions of the file in the local drive stop getting uploaded to Box. Affected files have a system error icon (cloud icon with an exclamation mark) in Finder:
Box Drive (v2.27.250) fixes this bug i.e after upgrading to (v2.27.250) saving a new file directly into Box Drive works as expected. But for files that were already impacted by this issue in Box Drive (v2.27.240) the following resolution steps should be taken to ensure these files are uploaded to Box.
IMPORTANT:If for any reason you have to logout of Box Drive, resolve these impacted files before you logout of Box Drive as these impacted files that have not been successfully uploaded to Box will be deleted from your machine if you logout of Box Drive.
Resolution Steps:
Identify impacted files by the system error icon (cloud icon with an exclamation mark) in Finder:
If you can open the problematic file locally, ensure it has the latest changes (if you cannot open the problematic file locally, reach out to the owner of the file and ask them to take the following resolution steps). Recover the file by creating a copy of the file in Box Drive by using one of these options: “Save As” to save a copy to Drive or copy the file in Drive (using copy ⌘C / paste ⌘P or duplicate context menu).
Delete the original problematic file after you have ensured that the newly created copy has successfully uploaded to Box and you can continue working/ collaborating on this new copy of the file. Share the new file with your collaborators to give them access to the new file.
