Excel will not launch to Desktop
CompletedExcel will not launch to Desktop. A message appears saying the spreadsheet is "opening in Excel....." but nothing happens. This has happened intermittently for years. It may work fine for long periods but then will stop, usually part way through a day (when it had been working fine). Today it has not worked at all. I have cleared History but this has made no difference. I want to use my desktop excel and not excel online as I need the full version.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with Excel not launching to your desktop. Here's a summary of steps you can take to resolve this issue:
First, ensure that the Ignore DDE option is unchecked in Excel settings. Next, try disabling any add-ins that might be causing conflicts. You can also attempt to repair your Microsoft Office installation through the Control Panel. Another step is to reset the file associations for Excel files, and it's also worth disabling hardware graphics acceleration in Excel settings. If the problem persists, running Excel in Safe Mode can help bypass issues caused by add-ins or settings. If none of these steps work, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.
I hope this helps!
