    Hi Larry,

Thanks for reaching out. Great question! If you're using a developer account, you should have access to this:

    https://community.box.com/t5/How-to-Guides-for-Admins/Managing-Files-And-Folders-From-The-Admin-Console/ta-p/176

When you select a user to access, note the ID that is appended in the URL. That's the User ID. If you click on a folder, another ID - folder ID - is appended. Then if you click on a file within that folder (see where we're going?), you'll get another ID appended, which is the file ID.

Fun little tip, hope that helps!

    Thanks,

    Jason

I am using a Developer Account with a Business plan, and the Content Manager is only available through the Business Plus, or higher plan, according to the above link. How could I find a users id, or similarly, a folder id?

    Hi Jason,

Is there also a similar way to get the user id of an external user?

    Thanks,

    Joris

That's how you get the user Id? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.

I completely agree.  BOX User ID should be listed in user properties within Admin Console, within "View Profile", listed as a value in the "All Users Export", etc.

What does it mean to "... select a user to access'? I have tried several ways to do this but can't see a user ID anywhere. A screenshot would help. I've also tried to access User IDs - including my own - from CLI but no joy there either.

Click on your Profile Pic, then click Account Settings. There you can find a section called "Account Details". There is your user id, disguised as the account id.
Ive confirmed this by comparing it to the value that postman provided me with when calling the get-users-endpoint .

Lorenz Kley Thank you. But when I click my profile pic, there are 3 items: "My activities", "My profile" and "Sign out". There is no "Account Settings" or "Account Details". In "My profile" I could not find my user id. Is the UI changed? Where should I look at to find my user id?

    Thanks.

User icon in the top right corner > Account Settings > Account Details > Account ID. There's a 10 digit code there. That's Account ID/User ID. Below this it shows Storage Used, Bandwidth Used, Max File Size, Login Address, and Admin Contact.
